Black Necked Grebes usually arrive back early to mid-March with occasional sightings in February.
14 March - Three Black-necked Grebes arrived on No3 bed 16 March - Four, possibly five Black-necked Grebes on No3 bed 17 March - Five Black-necked Grebes confirmed on No3 bed 19 March - Nine Black-necked Grebe counted No3 bed 23 March - Minimum 10 Black-necked Grebe present No3 bed 09 June - Eight brood of Black-necked Grebe confirmed today No3 bed 10 June - Nine broods confirmed 11 June - 17 adults and 15 of previously confirmed 18 young counted 20 June - 10th brood located along with 13 adults and 18 young 23 June - 13 adults and 12 young, 3 of which were full grown 27 June - 12 adult birds and 14 young counted. No sign of the 3 full grown juveniles, perhaps they have moved on?
